Happy White Day Everyone

As starofpersia just reminded me, it's White Day!

In Japan, Valentines day [February 14th] is a day where females, the night before, stay up and make chocolates for all their friends. You give chocolates to all your male friends, and if there's anyone special in your life then you give them something extra.

White Day [March 14th] is the day where the males have to give back to the females that gave them something a month before. Hey, at least you get a month to think of something and buy it! It's like an early warning system.

So...

Where's my damn chocolate?

I gave everyone at the club I was at on V-day little baggies of cheapo chocolates- including girls, so I'm not really expecting anything back...but it's nice to wish.

i've just made up six pretty little bags of chocolates for the students that gave me stuff.. i don't eat chocolate, every year i hope for a valentines with nothing given or received [i managed until i came to japan], and i really really don't approve of this whole thing. :-/
trust the japanese to make the worst day of the year last a month!

hahah :) I agree on the last point, but it's kind of nice to think that for one day out of a year, you have to be nice and generous to a few people. :)

whereas that is the bit i really don't like about this sort of thing: i object to being made to do it one particular day because it makes me unlikely to do at any other time.. i'd much prefer to have no expectation - then i'd just give presents as i when i feel the urge, which would probably be more often with some and less often with others.

i like the idea of the gift giving a month later. i've always been of the opinion that valentines day it a bit too engineered for selling cards over here.

Though i guess it wouldn't make much difference to me as i didn't get any valentines (*big glum look*).
