I am going to kill someone.

I am now 'on hold' to the 6th Canon number so far in 10 minutes. Everyone puts me through to a different number, who tells me that they aren't the right one either.

The University is running me round in circles trying to use two pieces of software; The Raiser's Edge and SAP. Not only will they not let me use either, they won't tell me how to fill in forms and who to ask to get me to actually use either of them.

Everything is red tape and paperwork, when I can see what I need.

I can't practise using A until I have a password
I can't get a password until I've completed the training
I can't complete the training until I get to practise, for which I need a password.

And fuck anything to do with ODBC configuration, seriously.

I need a beer.

I know how you feel - been in similar situations before.

SAP though, is fucking useless. Had to use it in a job before and it was nothing but trouble - it is so complex in parts (especially the meaningless database names) that it becomes a real trial to use... :/

SAP is useless. I've been told by everyone. Unfortunately, I've been employed as the person to use it :(

ODBC IS HORRIBLE!!

[identity profile] mofette.livejournal.com 2005-07-07 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
it's sorted. I don't have to deal with it again. I can breathe!

Welcome to the horrible world of bureaucracy. I seem to remember educational establishments were one of the worst for it.

it would appear so. I'd rather work for the government, the mirror have proved that it's easy to get clearance for things!

Not using SAP is a positive thing, you'll realise this if you ever have to use it. What can I say it's a piece of software written by German accountants for German accountants. Fuck knows why so many big companies and organizations use it.

oh yes, everyone hates it, everyone at a previous job hated it.

unfortunately I was employed as the person to use it :(

Go for a walk down red route to the ISS helpdesk and ask them in person. It'll stretch your legs and they'll either know, or tell you to ask the SDDU.

SDDU are very helpful.

I have worked this out, and when i'm not too busy I trail down to ISS where a big creepy man smiles at me lots.

I much prefer taking my own stuff places, but I've never been to SDDU
