Dancing... why do we do it? I mean, like you stand on the dancefloor, possibly wiggling extremities of your own personage, and then others stand and laugh at the angles you are wighgling them. Is this, all in all, what we are looking for?
You have your cybergoths, one foot stapled in one place, one in another. Humping the air for all they are worth, with absolutely no thinking that the person next to them is doing the same. This creates one massive "Goths in humping air shocker" in a circle at the Phono. Not always in time to the music, and most certainly not in time with their arms.
Then you have your folkies. One small girl who walks up and down at the pole very daintily, and three men, mostly balding, mostly fat, striding with great authority at this pole. Most of the time out of time, sometimes looking that they're going to take the pole out and bury us goths in the Phono.
Play disturbed and another type of Goth is evident, ones who plant one foot firmly on the ground behind them, the other in front at a 90 degree angle, and then thrash themselves around so much you are sure that they are going to fall over. Almost whipping anyone that takes this oppertunity of shite music to go to the loo or bar with their hair
And I come finally to the tradgoths. Selective music only will be danced to. Cautiously making sure hair and makeup are ok, they will speed around in a number of directions, boots, hats, coats and cleavages on show to all to prove goth-ness.
My point...? Why do we dance? To appease the gods of the band that are playing?m They can't see you. To try to attract a mate? They are too busy laughing at you. To get exercise? The only people dancing long enough to get exercise are on drugs and will die soon anyways. If anyone knows the answer... let me know... :)
