Oh My God I'm almost done!
Apr. 9th, 2009 01:28 amI've almost finished watching the whole of the IMDB top 250. I will finish this later on, I'm halfway through Great Expectations at the moment, and United 93 is the last one. It's been such a labour of love, and I'm almost sad it's over.
I archived the list on the 12th of March 2007, and I'm finishing it on the 08th April 2009. It's taken me 2 years and 27 days. 758 days. One film every 3 days! That's actually a lot better than I thought it would be, although I had started with 64 already done so it's more like every 4 days.
I know the list has changed since then, and I've already moved from twofifty.org which disappeared into the internet grave with my donation I'd just made, to http://250.s-anand.net/ which someone made when he too was annoyed that twofifty.org had disappeared. My list is here, detailing the ones that have come and gone since 2007. I've already got all of the films I'm missing ready to watch, and at that point I'm going to do something very silly.
I'm going to take the free 14 day trial of IMDB Pro, and copy a list of the top 500. Then I guess it all starts again! Some of you may think I'm mad, others may do it themselves when I have the list, but I've seen so many films I would otherwise have ignored - films that I'd never even heard of before I started this.
Harvey, Rebecca, The Wages of Fear, Les Diaboliques, La Notti di Cabiria and many others, I couldn't start to tell you all how heavily I recommend them! I feel more enriched for having seen so many treasures of many countries and I'm looking forward to seeing how many more I've got to watch.
