The month leading up to this had all gone a bit mad! Once we found out we'd won, everything got a bit 'real', and it was too late - no backing out now, we were getting married in 4 weeks!

After we found out we'd won, we had a quick bite to eat at the house, did an interview with Kerrang radio and then travelled to the Blue Dolphin holiday park in Filey, where we decamped, unpacked our stuff and opened a bottle of Prosecco to try to chill out. We got to listen to ourselves on the radio thanks to Milf's iPhone gadget, and then we could stop lying to people - we could tell them we'd won!

We had a pint or two along with a meal at the pub there while we used their free Wi-Fi to shop for outfits and send emails to the seamstress, but then decided we were all physically and mentally knackered so went back to the caravan we were staying in. It wasn't a nice night's sleep, the caravan walls were paper thin and we are ALL snorers - I feel sorry for my nocturnal brother, not only was he trying to get to sleep way earlier than he was used to but it sounded like a family of animated chainsaws had a head cold!

The next morning we popped off to Whitby. I wanted to make a start on getting everything sorted, and where is better than Whitby during the week between the 2(!) Whitby Goth Weekends? The first shop we went into had some amazing Alchemy Gothic jewellery, which I'd always derided as being a bit too up its own arse in the Goth style, but when in Rome... I tried on a few spiders and skulls, before settling on the piece I'd spied when we first went in, a large crystal moon with a bat, bats up the chain with more crystals and some semi-matching earrings.

Once we came out of the shop, I decided to check my emails. I had a reply from the dressmaker saying that she couldn't make the dress in 4 weeks, despite the website saying it could be done in 2! I was heartbroken and much of the following few hours seemed to be spent flitting from shop to shop, trying to find a dress. I was desperate - 4 weeks isn't a lot of time to do anything, let alone organise my part of the wedding! We had dinner at The Magpie - which was nice - I'd never been before and it was so worth the money, although I can't see myself queuing up to go there. We had a quick pint or two at The Shambles, before getting back in the car to go to the caravan site.

As soon as we arrived, I took the laptop back to the pub, opened up a tab and got myself a pint, a pot of tea and a scone and started looking in earnest for a new dress. I started trying to re-create the spider web dress, looking at corsets and flouncy skirts. I thought I'd found an adequate replacement, just as everyone arrived in the bar to watch the England match. When I showed it to Milf, he told me I couldn't wear it as it was too Goth and not Medieval enough, it was more Victorian. In hindsight, he was right but he could've found a better way to put it, we were both stressed and tired and we ended up having a blow-up in the bar surrounded by people trying to watch football, haha!

Once I looked again at the sites I'd dismissed because the style was totally not me, I found a nice dress that would do for both of us - a white velvet hooded dress with long bell sleeves and a gorgeous brocade pattern at the front. Milf was happy, my mum loved it and I thought it was ok, so we settled on that and wrote down the number so that I could call the lady to make sure it was do-able in time. I didn't want another disappointment!

We chose a dress for my mum that she liked from the same person, and on the hire site we chose a matching outfit for my dad. We also mentally reserved an outfit for my brother, Milf's brother and Matt, and looked at outfits for the Bridesmaids.

Wednesday morning I got up bright and early and called the dressmaker, she confirmed that it wouldn't be a problem making the dresses, in fact, they'd be done in 2 weeks! We went back to the pub, ordered our dresses, shopped, chose and bought a matching outfit, trousers and boots for Milf and then called the hire place and ordered all of the hire costumes and matching boots. Luckily, my jewellery would still go with my new outfit, so I relaxed again and we chilled out with a game of Munchkin and some Trivial Pursuit questions.

That evening, I couldn't sleep and couldn't work out why until it hit me - no-one had been in touch to sort out meeting the registrar to book an interview for Intent to Marry. I looked in my phone and found out when they'd be open in the morning and set myself an alarm. Milf wasn't too impressed that I was possibly going behind someone's back to organise something, but I pointed out that we didn't exactly have much choice, otherwise we wouldn't be legally getting married!

At 8am on Thursday I got up, had a strong coffee and as soon as they opened, I called the Registrar Office. Lucky for us that I did as they only had 2 appointments before our deadline of 2 weeks before the wedding, and they were both FRIDAY! My Birth Certificate was in Fradley, and as my passport wasn't valid I needed that AND my parents' birth certificate. We booked the 10:30am appointment and leisurely packed up and left the campsite. My parents dropped us of in Leeds and drove back to Fradley to retrieve said documents and come back the next morning.

Friday morning my parents arrived around 8am with the documents in hand, so we went on the bus into town. After a quick coffee at the Hedley Verity, we wandered down to Berry's jewellers to try on some rings (way too expensive, even considering we weren't paying for them!) and then off to the Registrar's. She was a nice lady and interviewed Milf first on his own. I was sat outside bricking it as he took so long, but it was due to the computer going down, not him not knowing my date of birth (thank goodness, I had spent the last 3 days drilling him!) and when I went in it turned out that that middle name I'd been calling him for years? It isn't legally there! I looked like a right fool :(

That done we went Wedding Ring shopping. Mum and Milf wouldn't let me get one from Argos for £17.99, so we went to the slightly more upmarket H Samuel. I ended up with a band that exactly matched my engagement ring (but without the stone, natch) and my Husband-To-Be got a titanium one with a diamond chip and some blue. Very nice it is, too!

We chilled out and had lunch with my parents before going on a mini pub crawl, starting with Mr. Foleys and ending up in The Chemic and The Pack Horse. After which Milf and I went to TJs for a quickie too!

There ended the week from hell. We were back to work Monday so we finished up everything we needed to and got back to normal life. Ish.
