What would a thing be called that let you put your HDD in it, and then connect it to a USB port, and where can I buy one?

My computer has a warranty sticker, so I can't put my old HDD into it :(

In other news, I feel really taken for granted, but Cat and Jo have been lovely, so it's ok I guess

Something like this should do the trick, you'll have phone them to check if it's the right one as the details n the site are non-existant......

Except don't buy it from Insight 'cause the postage is pissing expensive (and so is the product by the looks of it).

You'll want the Akasa External Enclosure 3.5" Silver/Black (3rd and 4th down) at £17.57 rather than £50+ from here (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Removable_Hard_Drive_Racks.html)

Yes, yes and yes... although the price seems to have jumped since last night to £31.67 (possibly the lower price was one of their 'this week only' offers).

As long as you have USB 2 (which you should have on a new computer) it should be zoomy, might need to make sure you have a spare plug socket mind.

You may find that those warranty stickers preventing you from opening the case aren't enforcable (as there are actually user servicable parts inside, and is need to be opened in order to perform upgrades etc)

Though, I Am Not A Lawyer, and even if I was, I wouldn't be your lawyer unless you were paying me for legal advice ;-)

Actually, if it's under warranty I really wouldn't as it's probably in the terms of the warranty so if the seal were to be broken they would charge for work that would otherwise have been done for free (and entirely legally as long as this is stated clearly in the T&C).

I think so yes

The stickers are there to convince you to take it back to them to get repaired so you can pay their high fees.

If it breaks they really wouldn't give two shits if you'd put a new hard drive in, as it's a PC it's pretty much expected you'll open it up and fiddle with it.
