Giving Up

Losing weight is so tough.

I've been eating rice for dinner, with fish or chicken, or turkey with new potatoes, or home made sushi for AGES now.

Today I had salad for lunch.

I'm just fed up of not being able to eat like 'normal' people. On Saturday night Milf and I had [livejournal.com profile] iicatsii round with [livejournal.com profile] miss_behave. We ate pretzels and played Wii together, then watched "Fat Girls and Feeders". That one is usually a deterrent for me to not eat crap for a while, but I was there, drinking cider, same as always.

Cider is so easy to drink, and it doesn't taste like calories. It's hard not to do. When I want a quiet night in with Milf, which is often now, considering how little I see him at the moment, I drink cider. It's hard to make do with water.

My Assistant Manager Paul, has given up cigarettes. We're all so proud of him at work - he's done really well. Last time I checked with him, he'd not even been missing them. I've never had to give up something cold turkey, I don't know if it's easier to give up something and know you'll never do it again. It's also hard to will him on with it - you want to see how he's doing, but you don't want to seem like you're nagging. He's doing great though, so I'm sure he'll be ok this far in.

I'm just convinced that stopping eating junk is harder - people all around you are doing it, you don't have much time or money for lunch breaks, so you give in and get something from boots, or if you've only got 30 minutes, maybe the bagel stand or subway. I've never quit smoking, so to tell you the truth I have no idea, but it just seems like that to me. The thing is moderation, with smoking you quit and never do it again, but with eating you have to do it, it's just moderation that matters.

I've lost 2.5 stone, I can do another 1.5, surely?

There's your problem right there - instant foods are laden with refined carbs, which are cheap bulkers. And cider is high in sugar, it's basically fermented apple juice. Could you switch to something like g&t? Not that I can talk mind, I've fallen heavily off the wagon since Christmas :(

On Slimming World I lost 2.5 stone eating these, so I think I'll be fine.

G&T is a no-no. it's all or nothing with my beer and me.

given that i'm a) lazy, and b) not a particularly fussy eater, it means that this is something i'm happy to eat 3 or 4 times per weak - its easy to prepare - about 10 minutes total (including chopping)
