We were all talking in #uk_goffs about our taste in the opposite sex. Despite my usual qualms about personality and GSoH I do actually have a lot of preferences about looks. I never thought I did, but to be honest, you can match with someone's personality till the cows come home, but if you don't fancy them in a physical sense, there's no point.

Here's my 101 then...
Taller than me in platforms, not tradgoth, no skirts, generally facial hair, piercings, bigger build, ginger (or at least not blonde), good dresser.

is that majorly shallow or what? :(

hhhmmm, I have to be attracted to someone too, I think anyone does but it's different for everyone,taht's why there is someone for everyone. I'm going to see mister crush soon and I've a feeling that I'm not going to be attractive enough for him, it makes me a bit sad but I'd hate it if anyone forced me to be with someone I didn't fancy so I couldn't blame him if he said he changed his mind coz say, I was too fat or my legs weren't long enough or something. Might seem shallow but it's also realistic. I just have to find someone who things short and chubby is attractive.

hmm...i have always been told i have a nice personality (i always though i was an arrogant fuck wit).

I'm taller then you when your in your platforms, i do very occasioanlly trad (not much anymore, prefer the suited goth look), i wouldnt be seen dead in a skirt, i have a goatee, i have 3 piercings (tongue and double apadravya), my build id pretty fucking elephant like, i have brown hair with a ginger tint, and have you ever seen me in a suit.

Big black BMW 5 series convertable, black, with a black interior and brushed chrome trim, me sitting in the drivers seat withthe top down, long hair in a pony tail, jet black suit (black jacket, trousers, shirt and tie), cuban boots (the ones with the slightly loose metal heals so they klink when i walk), skin tight leather gloves, and dark sunglasses.

Hmmm the kind of bloke i am physically attracted to are filthy skinheads over 6'!!! Have only been out with one skinhead who was shorter than me but dead filthy .

Anyway, what i am trying to say is that the blokes you fall in love with are not necessarily your usual type. Ive been in love two, maybe three times, fancied them all like mad but none of them were skinheads. Pah!

No, it's *not* shallow to know what you consider attractive. If you meet someone who is a great match for you, but you refuse to go out with them because they sometimes wear skirts, then *that* might be seen as shallow... but that's not what you're saying here, I don't think. You're looking at what you consider an ideal, and it's always good to have an ideal in mind as long as you're not slavishly devoted to the ideal.

As has already been said, it's not at all unusual to know your "type", and then fall for someone who's completely different. That doesn't mean that it's a bad thing to know (and talk about) what your type is.

Oh, and, just because all the other guys seem to be mentioning it... I dunno how tall you are in platforms, but /me is scrawny build, no piercings, no facial hair, sometimes-skirt-wearing (not to mention almost half again your age).... ah well. I guess the thousands-of-miles-distance thing could be an deal-breaker, anyhow. ;)

I was actually having a scarily similar conversation with 2 mates on our way to Leicester at the weekend - they accused me of being shallow as I apparently, always go for the prettyboys.... I justified myself by saying what you did, that you have to actually fancy the outside before you want to get to know them!
(Although of course if you actually have a circle of friends where some of them are male, fancying them can creep up on you and then smack you over the head with a HUGE mallet!)

Oh and you'd better come to my birfday party in September! please? oh go on you know you want try out the delights of Hull....mmmm ok maybe not..but some lovely people are coming and it'll be fun! and I'm trying to find a company that'll let me hire a bouncy castle and let adults go on it!!!!
