shut the fuck up about the women in the dove advert. I remember seeing them and thinking how I would kill to be as thin as them.
Now I'm sat at home by myself bawling my fucking eyes out. I need a fucking hug :(
I would gladly batter anyone that said they were fat. I have never been as thin as any of them and to think that people are calling them FAT? Fucking hell that is such an insult to me.
I remember seeing the adverts and thinking that they had no wobbly bits either.
OH FUCK I NEED SOMEONE HERE :((((((

It's not about how heavy you are, it's about how you carry it off. Dove did those women no favours!
Just my opinion though. And for the record I think you look lovely and it never occurred to me to think of you as particularly overweight because you dress well and look good!
So there!

I was of the opinion they wwere normal to slim. For that reason I was annoyed by that advert. People believe the hype, they do not use their goddamn brains.

And you're not fat either!

You're attractive - pretty much everyone i know who knows you thinks so. Also, you have no idea how other people see you - a mirror is not an accurate representation. A static photograph is no representation of how people see you when you move. Don't disbelieve people when they tell you you're attractive/beautiful, because you can't see what they do.
And i know lots of skinny mingers, so thats a stoooopid thing to base your self image on :)

Date: 2004-04-20 07:46 am (UTC)I've only meet you once and your not Fat.
Me, now I'm fat. Yes it can be upsetting as anybody seeing my complaints in my journel will tell you. But it's only weight. IT's not important compaired to who you are and how people love you.
Trite I know. But fortunetly true.
As for the Dove women, there on the side of a bus. there not real. A friend of mine, a women, used to have a job 'touching up the models for loaded'. She worked in photoshop removing any imperfections in the photographs. She said it was the most liberating experience in the world. Even all those 'perfect' women you see in magazines there no such thing. So don't compaire your self to them in anyway, because there not real. And you are.
Apparently, although I never see you at wendy house. Mind you that could be because I never leave the dance floor.....

Date: 2004-04-20 08:26 am (UTC)Secondly, people react to what the masses say and don't think first. They don't realise what they are really saying and the impact it has on people.
Now, no matter what I say about you're figure it's not going to stop you feeling the way you do about it. You're not happy with it, and I don't think you ever will be. I've been there. And then I lost a lot of weight and am still doing so. Unfortunately I had to get very ill to do so. And the only reason I don't put it all back on now is because of all the kickboxing I do.
Dieting doesn't work. Half an hour walking a day doesn't work. Figuring out what your life demands and constraints are and working a plan around them does. If you want advice, shout.
For the record I don't look at you and think you're fat. I think you look fine and well, normal. Not big nor skinny thin, just normal. Does that make sense?
Drop me a line, I'll be happy to help if I can.

Date: 2004-04-20 09:13 am (UTC)I am fat; I am overweight; I am medically obese. I have been diagnosed with a dangerously high cholesterol level. During my "I don't really care" phase all that mattered was how I felt and I felt good whatever size I was and whatever I ate. I knew how to hide or disguise the fat bits as long as it didn't get too out of hand. It didn't bother me what other people said about other people, or what they said about me.
BUT ... Now the only reason I'm on a strict anti-saturate diet and exercising is because of the medical problems associated with everything. I don't want to have the sort of problems I am most likely to have in 10 years time..if I can control it now I'm young.. the better.
I'm not gonna tell you how good looking you are now; whatever I say doesn't particularly change how YOU feel about yourself or about others having a go at "fatties" that you believe look thinner than you - NOR should it change anything. If I was a real friend and believed you were fat I ought to tell you to sort it out instead of telling you you're beautiful and should keep things the way they are; something that's obviously making you miserable.
For me it didn't bother me at all; I knew what the problems were and I accepted them. You obviously know the problems but aren't so accepting which is why you want it changed. There's no point in seething at those who believe someone else is a fatty.
So what I will say is that it's not difficult to control things and change them whatever way you want them to change - obviously you know this as you were 2 stone lighter not so long ago; and its obvious that you want things to change.
I haven't seen the Dove women adverts; but if what the majority of other people say is true then maybe they really are Shishka (festively plump.) Doesn't make them any less beautiful or any more ugly really; I've seen good looking fatties and bad looking skinnies and vice-versa.
So cheer up and keep in mind you'll never break the laws of thermodynamics. If you truly wanna change things a hug won't make a difference; keeping track of your input and output will though.

Date: 2004-04-20 09:14 am (UTC)I haven't ever owned a pair of weighing scales so I don't know my weight, but then again I'm a bloke so I guess it doesn't matter. People look good because of who they are, not because of how much they weigh.
In short: food = personality. Eat more. I like chocolate. Especially Penguins.

NOP! I am thinking og geting a bit more regualr excercise, becasue well basically I'm unfit, but other than that no concerted efforts on my part.
I rahter have someone with personality, rather than a vacant stick insect.

(big picture so click to look.)
That's apparently attractive, according to most of the mens Magazines Halle Berry is one of the best looking women in the world. MY ASS SHE IS!
Looking at that picture she is hidiously deformed, the pose is not natural and make her look like she has bone problems, she is far to skinny and the underlying muscles make her look like a man. if thats he national concensus of the ideal woman, I go for the underlings ever time. Oh and the outfit is hidious, why do people were clothes that just don't suite them.
Also being to thin can be as unhealthy as being overweight, deteriation of the bones, joins and muscles, usually cannot be reversed, where as most problems with being overweight can be over time.

Date: 2004-04-20 10:26 am (UTC)Personally I always think you look stunning. But if you're not ~feeling~ stunning I think I mentioned the South Beach diet to you? It's how I've lost weight recently and the good thing is it's all lots of really nice healthy food, so you don't feel you're starving yourself, and get to feel all proud about being healthy and you have more energy. Plus chocolate and red wine are both not just allowed but encouraged in small doses! I'm still losing weight and have practically forgotten I'm on a diet! I can lend you the book next time I see you if you like.
(Not that I think you look at all like you need to feel weight, cos you are GORGEOUS, but I know what it's like when you're feeling uncomfortable in your own skin - sometimes you don't just want to hear "oh, you're fine, don't worry".)

Date: 2004-04-21 06:12 am (UTC)As for the Dove adverts.... I thought it was nice to see some normal shaped girls on an ad for a change. Okay, on the smaller end of normal but at least not match stick thin like you usually see. I didn't think for one moment that any of them looked fat. Curvy, yes, but curvy is gooood!! :)
On a down day, I'd probably get really defensive about folk calling other folk fat. I'd probably take it personally. Most of the time I'm fine with being fat. I know it's because of my body not working properly and not because I scoff loads of food. What other people think is of no matter. And even if I was fat because I scoffed lots of food, I'd probably be okay with that too because everything has it's consequences. If you love to eat there shouldn't be any shame in it!!! And large people can look every bit as good as thin people... if the beholder isn't fattist!!!
I'm in Leeds tomorrow for the day. Want to meet and do lunch? Will text you too just in case you don't read this any time soon...

I just wish I could magic it away :/
